Miss Emily, our oldest daughter, is now 8 years old and set to start 3rd grade this fall. I can't believe how fast the time has gone since I first found out that I was pregnant with her.
Emily is an easy going girl and likes to try new things without much hesitation. She loves to read and play pretend with the multitude of animal figurines that she has accumulated over the years. She and her sister, Caitlin (age 4.75) like to pretend that they are some great feline species from the Serengeti stalking some unsuspecting, helpless prey (usually their baby sister, Michaela) Sometimes they hide under the breakfast nook and wait for her to walk by and then they jump out and pounce on her and congratulate each other on a "kill" well done. Of course Michaela doesn't particularly like being pounced upon and she is starting to fight back against these 2 "big cats."
Emily takes gymnastics and swimming at our local YMCA and has done very well at both of these. We like the teaching approach that the Y takes with these activites as we aren't in to pushing our girls into highly competitive activities until they are in 3rd or 4th grade. Emily will start piano lessons this fall. She seems eager to learn how to play.
We're so very proud of how Emily is growing in her life--spiritually, physically, academically, socially etc. She is such a blessing in our lives.
